When you write a song you have created a work of intellectual property, copyright exists to protect the value of this song and allows you to earn royalties from its use. Music publishers exist to protect your copyright and increase its value.

Around the globe there exist hundreds of collection societies who license music in their own territories. This avoids you, the songwriter, having to deal with everybody who wants to use your work. Having to register with each of these societies takes time, money and can be complicated. Music publishers do this on your behalf, monitoring and reporting your music use, collecting and distributing your royalties (different types of royalties below).

Music publishers also look to increase the value of your work by getting your song used in new places (TV, films, adverts etc.) or performed by bigger artists.

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE royalties
MECHANICAL royalties
SYNCHRONIZATION royalties

Public performance royalties are due whenever your work is broadcast or played live. These are generally if your music is being streamed, viewed on YouTube, played on the radio / TV, performed live in a public setting etc. PHAZEtwo will collect these royalties from the global collections agencies, assist you getting your music on streaming services / radio / TV, and assist in getting your music played by bigger acts.

Mechanical royalties are due when a copy of your work is made. These are generally sales of your music: mp3, vinyl, CDs etc. PHAZEtwo will collect these royalties from the global collections agencies, assist you in getting your songs ready to be sold, and assist in getting your music covered or sampled by bigger acts.

Synchronization (or synch) royalties are due whenever your work is used in TV show, film, advertisement, online video, game etc. These licences are negotiated on a case by case basis. PHAZEtwo will work to get your music used in sync placements and negotiate the best royalty possible.
